Inhalers don't make any difference ?
I have 3 types of inhaler. A 24 hour one which is a powder capsule type.Tiotropium. Then a 12 hour one. Formoterol. These I have to take daily. Then I have a Salamol to take when needed. I tried a little experiment. I didn't take any of them for 2 days. My Sats stayed the same and I still got SOB doing

Hello all. About my COPD
A year ago it was found I had angina. Also it showed up that I had a heart attack but was minor so I didn't even know when it happened. I had a stent put in. As I don't drink alcohol, am reasonably slim and my cholesterol reading at the time was about 5.6 I put the angina down to smoking and immediately

In bed with yet another chest infection. Ended up in a&e and went through the familiar routine of nebulisers, steroids and antibiotics. And all because I caught another cold! It's only April yet this is the second time I've fallen ill this year. Been taking seretide religiously

Caught between Gp and Cons
Hi Everybody Hope you are all well My little girl (she's 6) had a little bit of a wobble the other day so phoned our surgery for prednisolone. Usually they just leave us a prescription but spoke to a gp who wouldn't prescribe it without seeing her. Fair enough I thought so took her down. He agreed

Throat problems
Having trouble with oral thrush yet again. Been on flucanazole 100mg a day for 10 weeks and also had difflam mouth rinse, nystan, and dakatarin oral gel and I still can't get rid of it. I've tried rinsing after taking my nebs and have now stopped the difflam as was told it was making it worse. Its been

Oral thrush
I know lots of people have posted about this in the past but would love some opinions. I take lots of inhaled steroids, seretide accuhaler and budesonide turbohaler, so don't use a spacer. I have never had a thrush problem. I saw the consultant on Friday, who looked at my throat, said it looked abit

Is this normal???
Hi, Thanks for taking the time to read this post. I'm a newly diagnosed asthmatic with hypersensitivity. The main triggers seem to be dust from building works and cold air from the ferrocious air con at work. I'm usually on 400mcg twice a day of budesonide, 120mg fexofenadine, 30mg lansoprazole and

Change of Inhaler...
However, having today picked up a repeat prescription this has been substituted for Symbicort, which in addition to 200mg of
Budesonide
also contains
Formoterol
, which we understand is a broncho-dilator (or reliever).

Budesonide & nebuliser
Hi I've been using my little omron microair to nebulise my pulmicort as I'd been advised so long as I added saline to it it would be OK. The NWLC are now querying if it is actually up to the job, the thinking being my asthma is out of control because I'm not getting the right dose. Does anyone else use

flixotide
I was on symbicort 400/12, budesonide 200, montelukast and flixotide 125. Last week when I went to see the nurse practioner my inhalers were changed to budesonide 400, oxis and montelukast because apparently they are not allowed to prescribe flixotide any more.It shouldn't have caused any problems because

More medication
Hi All, A month or so ago I wrote here about some side effects with Ventolin and Becotide. I have been to the doctor a couple of times since, and I'm now also taking Losec which helps with most of the side effects. I saw the my GP again today and he has also added Formoterol (Oxis) 12mg twice daily

Feeling better already
I saw my GP yesterday and she changed my preventer from pulmicort to symbicort. I've only had a couple of doses but the addition of formoterol really seems to be doing the trick. Last night I had the best night's sleep I've had in ages and I'm feeling great. My peak flows are back up to my 610L/min pb
