I’m having a bad pain day today and made me wonder how everyone else is getting on and how we all cope in flares. Everyone’s different.
I’m using skills that I’ve learned to do my best to relax and clear my mind so that I can dampen down my nervous system. I’m using relaxation techniques, stretches and watching some comedy to make myself laugh. Is there anything that you finds works well?

Hi sorry you’re having a bad day but I see you posted a while ago so hopefully you’ll be back on track soon. I’ve had a few bad days recently before I’d bed bed bound now I do my exercises and reprogram my mind some clips from YouTube help, then force myself to get up and sit in my chair (we got a recliner which makes this a lot easier) I put something on the tv that I don’t need to concentrate on and do some distracting games on my iPad! It doesn’t always work but it’s a start x
I’m feeling a lot better today than when I posted. Little techniques like you suggest are really hard to do at the time but we just need to remind ourselves that they do help - even if it doesn’t seem like it at the time. Thank you for your reply…..it’s always nice to know there’s someone out there that’s listening and ‘gets it’.
Definitely agree. I do try to reply but my app is playing up (maybe it’s in a flare up 😂)
I think the best thing to remember when I’m bad is there’s no time limit as long as I get on that chair at some point. It would be oh so easy just to stay on my bed but before I went on the course I spent about 20hrs a day for 18mths on the bed and I’m determined I’m not going back to that! Even though my pain is worse my ability to cope is better. x
I try my best not to think of pain anymore but more about what my body can do today in-line with my pacing, values and goals.
I’m the same. Even what might seem silly to some, getting out the bed to make a hot drink or sit and watch some TV is an achievement some days and we should be proud of that.
