Rates of melanoma are rising faster than any other cancer in Britain. Why is that?

Rates of melanoma are rising faster than any other cancer in Britain. Why is that?

Is it because there is still a genuine lack of awareness regarding the dangers of UV radiation and how to enjoy the sun safely?

Is it because people still love to get a tan, despite the potential consequences?

Is it because people think ‘It won’t happen to me’?

Is it because we are seeing the aftermath of a lack of knowledge and sun safe behaviours from a generation where the damage is already done?

Is it because of sunbed use?

Is it because people think - “It’s Just Skin Cancer”?

Your comments and thoughts are welcomed!

Our guess is that it’s a combination of all of the above.

That’s why we are dedicated to the prevention and early detection of skin cancer through educational intervention on a national scale.

There’s much work to be done, but WE ARE making a difference and WE ARE saving lives.
