What do you wish the general public knew about ovarian cancer?
Symptoms it took years to discover my cancer as my gynecologist did not take further steps with cscan and other resources to discover it earlier. When
My c125 started to elevate she said I have cancer. I went for Second opinion
Rushed me in for scan. I think symptoms and more knowledge about what to look for would be helpful.

How far behind the rest of Europe the UK is in diagnosis and treatment of OC
That there are symptoms and that women should see their doctor if they have these symptoms for two weeks or more
That a PAP smear doesn't detect ovarian cancer
The symptoms of OC and how they can mimic and be mistaken for other disorders/diseases. Also I wish there was the same awareness and support in the media for ovarian cancer as there is for breast cancer.
Your yearly Pap test does not check for ovarian cancer there is no early detection test
That you should see an oncologic gynecologist/surgeon for reproductive cancer. He/she have the skill and knowledge to treat you. This is critical!
I wish they knew that OC affects women of all ages. Also more awareness for GP'S I saw 3 Doctors before my diagnosis, not one of them followed the NICE guidelines, if they had, I would have been diagnosed a lot sooner.
That ovarian cancer most likely starts on the fallopian tube. Also that you should ask for a c.t scan if you have even 1 or 2 symptoms, so the disease will be caught in early stage. Too many symptoms may mean advanced stage of cancer.
what the symptoms can be. Bloating, tiredness.. I had no clue until I went to the doctor for excessive monthly bleeding. Be sure that you see a gynecologic oncologist and surgeon. Be proactive.
Doctors do not always listen to us about vague symptoms. More awareness about symptoms and how to rule out other factors. I would like to find a survey to see the commonality in ovarian cancer patients .
The pap test doesn't detect ovarian cancer. So we have to pay attention to our bodies and request tests when we don't feel like ourselves.
That ovarian cancer can affect younger women too. If a young woman presents with the classic symptoms of OC, rule that out first before moving on to conditions like coeliac disease, IBS etc. I'm sure I could have been diagnosed 6 months earlier had that been the case.
I wish they knew that merely having a smear test was not enough to check that you don't have a gynae cancer. I wish GPs were better at detecting ovarian cancer and I wish that people knew that IBS does not occur for the first time after the age of 50.
No Female is too young to get it. Doctors must listen to their patients and not dismiss them without doing so fact-finding first despite in "common factors" that would suggest it is something else. No one test can determine 100%, so run several that have been known to support the diagnosis to prove or disprove. Too many times it is being dismissed as IBS or postmenopausal symptoms without doing any scans.
Symptoms of the disease.
That bloating is the #1 symptomin ovarian cancer.
All the symptoms to watch for and not to blow off anything. This disease is too deadly.
Even if it is 1a ovarian cancer still need to see a gun oncologist. I didn't and it came back 7 years later with 4 tumors in pelvic and abdomin area. And do regular checkups
I meant gyn oncologist. Sorry
How deadly ovarian cancer is and that they would support it like they do breast cancer
That it doesn’t have to be fatal
Increased public awareness of symptoms and the need to develop screening tools and more targeted treatments
