My brother went online in search of a clinical trial and found one at Duke University Hospital, At the time I lived only a few blocks from Duke.

Yes, but before choosing a right trial I would like to get a second opinion as my oncologist does not specialize in ES sclc and it looks like i know more about clinical trials than he does. I live not far from MDAnderson cancer center and would like to find out who specializes in small cell lung cancer. There are hundreds of medical oncologist at MDAnderson, could you please advise me where to start? I cannot go through all of them in order to find those I really need. Thank you, Elena

That's very smart to get a second opinion, especially since you are so close to MD Anderson. It's best to go to a center that sees a lot of lung cancer patients and is up on the latest advances and follows treatment guidelines. MD Anderson certainly fits that description. When selecting a doctor, it is best to search for a thoracic medical oncologist since they specialize in lung cancer. There are several listed on their website so that would be a good place to start your search. I hope that helps!

Scott was enrolled in Merck trial brought to us by his Oncologist but was excluded at the last minute due to a blood vessel by his heart.

I'm sure that was extremely disappointing to be that close and then have it not work out. Were they able to offer any other trials?
