just had my 11th heart attack n told don't come for cardiac rehab!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
after leaving the hospital not knowing what you can and can't do it was good to be with others in same situation at least in my case
End of exercise programme (which also included some talk sessions about medicine, healthy eating etc):
I jogged quickly - had been stopped earlier in time at assessment
My waist was reduced - but was measured tightly next to skin and had been looser over tee-shirt at initial assessment
I weighed less - but didn't have shoes on at post-exercise assessment
Taught me how to live after heart attack.
After my HA I was very low Cardiac Rehab was a very positive experience and defo saved me and put me on the right path. Now 3 years later I go to the gym 3 times a week and I am almost back to my pre HA self.
When I came home from hospital after the heart attack I was so scared and felt vulnerable which I hated as I am known as such a "strong" person who just rolls up her sleeves and gets on with life. Starting rehab 6 weeks later really helped me realise that it was okay to not be strong. It also helped me by being able to talk to others who had been through the same experience although they saw me as the baby as I was 49 at the time. I loved the fact that the exercises were done at your own strength and pace (keeping it real) the relaxation session afterwards was a challenge initially as it was so hard to switch off. Finally the weekly talks were informative and really helped me to start making longterm lifestyle changes.
It helped me get on with my life and that we do have a full life after a heart attack, was blessed with a very good team.
Didn`t have cardiac rehab and did great without it.
did not get any back up from the Hull & East Riding said they only had 2 part time cardiac nurses unable to cope my case not serious enough. So do not know what back up I should have had, but I am okay blood pressure checked once a year and blood checked once a year.
Did not access this or any assistance which was begging for.Forced out by Security a day later after angioplasty having had to revive 3x an Emergency & Out of Hrs not informing GPs or recording in your online notes.I still don'know which are Beta blockers etc when told to stop because of further procedures as in a Dosset Box with them no information.NB Single disabled no immediate family or Carers.Yet totally dependent on car which was not allowed to drive.
