Stopped drinking alcohol also. Did this because I cannot drink just one beer. Always want more so stopped altogether.
I actually exercise less cos I was very fit but had my HA while I on my mountain bike. I have cut down on drinking to nearly zero. I also lost 2 stone and I am careful about what I eat very rarely have a take away now.
Non smoker
Never have a take away... I ate enough .... leave it there ... then it will be an effort to get a new snack or meal the next day..otherwise I will eat it just because it is there and I want to save $... I can get more $ but a new heart is difficult ...so I eat lightly... sometimes only an appetizer and when the waiter looks at me for the entree I simply say I may not need one or I will order another appetizer when I see how hungry I am after this one.. I seldom order an entree... and am only hungry 50% of the time after ONE appetizer.

Tried stopping smoking was ok for 3 months then back onto them , Reckon heart attack was caused by work stress ,working on my own ,2 factories trying to maintain machinery and all breakdowns all night with little (mostly no ) backup from management . now have moved ,retired early, and stick my middle finger up to any authority whither its courts, taxman ,government or any other petty (official) who thinks they are god .
Stress level now is close to zero (until the wife breaths again) I`m lucky ,now I smile, turn my back to assholes and walk away with my middle finger in the air .

Keep a check on the following markers, APO A, APO B, LP(a), Homocysteine, LP PLA2, HDL, LDL particle size (related to previous markers)
If you have not heard of the above markers ask yourself why they are accepted as far better lipid markers than simple old cheap and cheerful Total cholesterol, HDL, LDL
Finally do not rely on your doctor to give you good nutritional advice, in the vast majority of cases they know little to nothing about the subject. Out of 7 years at med school a doctor gets just 7 hours of nutrition tuition. A dcotor who knows anything about the subject let alone willing to talk about is rare.
