They're not very poisonous and are not aggressive. I suspect fumigation would be far worse for your baby's health!

Same as above as long as ur not tlking millions of them and its not like ur haby wud b on there own where all these spiders r...also these spiders hav been around for yrs so spiders hav probli been in ur house for a long time and probli caused no probs x

I watched something about these spiders on this morning the other week, the man was saying the whole situation had been blown out of proportion. The severe reactions we have seen in the news will not happen to everyone, they have reacted like that because of an allergy and not because it's poisonous! The chap was an expert and he said there is no need to fear any insects in this country.

I heard spiders really don't like citrus, there is info online about spraying water mixed with lemon/Orange/lime essential oil where they congregate and it supposedly keeps them away. It's a natural option and may be worth a try if you are worried!!

I was going to advise the exact same thing haha! The media love to sensationalize anything they can get their hands on. Ur absolutely right though, these horrendous stories are from people who have an allergy to the venom and are a minority of the population. These spiders actually have a very weak bite and the amount of energy the spider needs to use to actually inject the venom means they only use it in extreme circumstances when they feel it is their only option. So baby is perfectly safe :) xx

I really don't like spiders even got my Friends 6 year old to hoover one up from the ceiling cos I have a fear of it falling on me and they are just the house spiders so to know one can bite would send shivers. ... but they are supposed to be shy spiders but if u have lots id def want them out of the house! Just give the house a major hoover thru and use the citrus to keep them out side!!!!

Several years ago we had false widows in our loft & conservatory (they like the warm dark corners). Other than looking a little scary they caused no problems at all to me or anyone else in the family.

I'm happy to share my house with a few spiders as they serve a useful purpose of catching other bugs such as house flies which are far less welcome :-)
