What a shame :( I would try keep as much fluids in her as you can, even though she can't keep then down, keep drinking. I would definitely contact midwife and ask for advice, if can't contact them over weekend and she is still really bad poss phone GP(on call doc) or nhs 24 as you don't want her getting really ill. My cousin had awful morning sickness and had to be hospitalised in order for them to get fluids into her! Hope she feels better soon!x

Hi there, I can really empathise. As the previous post says keep trying with the fluids, even the temperature, too hot or too cold or too much in one go, can trigger sickness. Check with a pharmacist first, but dyoralite or other dehydration treatment may help against the loss of body salts and it is worth trying to eat bland food, such as toast, even if it doesn't stay as it will help with energy levels and is more comfortable than heaving on an empty stomach.

It is really worth getting a medical assessment and don't get fobbed off as dehydration is serious, it affects the whole of the bodies organ systems and can increase the risk of thrombosis, especially in pregnancy. There are a number of different anti sickness drugs which can be prescribed, but you do need to see a Dr. A call to the midwife unit should set you on the right track to get the help your partner needs.

I hope this helps and your partner feels better soon

I agree with the above comments. Really important to see the GP or midwife as soon as possible in case she is suffering from hyperemesis (extreme morning sickness). There are medications that can help.

My sister had hyperemesis, severe morning sickness. Gp can prescribe anti sickness tablets but they are a bit trial and error. My sister had several admissions into hospital for both her pregnancies due to dehydration. We used to feed her ice lollies, ice cubes, watermelon to try and get fluids into her.Try small mouthfuls of food then wait 20-30mins. Angonsing when they are really hungry but it might be the only way to get some food in. Also chemists stock fortisip, a drink for the elderly when they are not eating, high in nutrients, not the best taste but the odd sip might help build up her energy levels.

And even though its very distressing and scary try not to worry too much. We were terrified the first time with my sis but the baby will take all it needs to grow. My sis has 2 healthy boys, 3 & 1. They are both perfect.

I hope this passes soon as 7weeks onwards is the most likely to have bad sickness

The on-call gp might not offer much but if she is becoming really weak its definately worth a call.

Have you had you're booking appt with mid wife yet?

If you have a contact for them give them a ring too.

Gp can presribe something to help, midwives often can't and will ask you to call gp.

If you are really worried there's always A&E if she needs more urgent help as they can give her IV fluids.

I hope she feels better soon x

To Be honest as it's the wkd I'd go to hosp 3 days is a long time to not able to keep anything down

Hi I suffered with the same thing at the start of my pregnancy I ended up being admitted to hospital 3 times in 3 weeks as they would give me anti sickness through a drip I would stop being sick then when I got home and took the tablets orally I was sick again. I went to the out of hours gp and they admitted because you can become dehydrated easier whilst pregnant. I now have tablets that if i take when i feel sick and the feeling goes within 5 mins of takin them.... i love them lol. I hope your partner feels better :) x

Oh good I'm glad she's doing better. Just don't be scared of going to the hospital. Listen to your instinct and if you're worried speak to someone.

Take care and I hope this gets better for her x
