I'm approx 5 weeks pregnant but my breasts especially my nipples are really sore. Does anyone have any advise on how to relieve the pain?

Well my friend has suggested putting cabbage leaves in the freezer for when I breast feed so I guess they might offer you some relief for this too, the sore nipples do pass, one day I just woke up and the discomfort was gone! :)

It's 5am and am reading up about cabbage leaves!! Crazy eh and you'll have this to look forward to. :)

It says the cabbage soothes sore nipples & helps with breast engorgement which if overused can slow down the milk but in turn can give mum some relief when there is too much milk. By looks of it, they are supposed to open up the milk ducts and soften the nipple. Think their use should be monitored at this stage but my friends had 2 kiddies and is now preggers with twins recommended this method to help soothe.

They say to wash and dry the green leaves, pop in fridge and when you want to use them use a rolling pin to crush the veins and this will contour better to breast inside bra, try leaving them there for just 30 mins n see.

Like I said earlier, one day the discomfort will just disappear, I definitely remember guarding the boobs as they were like sore hot rocks.

Hope this helps :) xx

Thank you so much for looking that up for me. I'm def going to get some today. I had heard its use was for when breast feeding but I will give anything a go just now :)

Definitely been there with my first pregnancy. So amazingly painful! There were days when I thought I would have to leave work so that I wouldn't stand there (behind a shop counter) holding my boobs! I didn't try cabbage leaves (they are recommended for engorgement I think so I never thought of trying it as this stage it is the milk ducts all opening up for the first time etc but it could easily work in the same way and certainly can't hurt) I found that keeping them warm helped as they were much more painful if I got cold (which is a bit of a joke in this weather!) I used to stand over the heater whenever possible and have a warm bath when I got home. And as someone else has said - it does pass, hope that is soon for you.
