just bn diagnosed with P.D, am in ear... - Parkinson's New Z...
just bn diagnosed with P.D, am in early 30s, where to from here?
nik12 Highly recommend that you explore Forced Exercise....this is an opportunity you want to take advantage of.....it can make all the difference. Also recommend you consider LSVT BIG Physical Therapy. Assume you have access to YouTube?
In YouTube look at the video "think BIG! - how I fight Parkinson's with LSVT BIG - YouTube"...its about a guy in Norway about your age and stage. Good Luck.
Check out parkinsons.org.nz to find out whether there is a field officer in your area. The field officers are fantastic support.
Don't let that diagnosis get you down. Keep on living a full life, which you should be able to do for a long time. But let your employer know about the situation and let your friends know. Just doing that should help with how you are feeling.
Most areas have Field Officers and a Support group, try to find your local one and find out as much as you can about Parkinsons.
Don't bottle it all up inside you and let yourself get depressed.
~ Thanks guys
My neurologist has put me on to parkinsons nz, which i hv bn in touch.... i will look in to the u tube thing - thanks .... and thanks hagan for your advice...... im at the phase of acceptance/denial/grief - if that makes sense!
ask lots of questions, make sure you have a really good doctor or specialist, ask what side effects the drugs have before you take any of them, some side effects are worse than the treatment.
Same advice as others here. I was diagnosed at 37. Lifee goes on, it is your choice on the outlook.
Research the side effects of the drugs, if you have concerns once you are on meds talk to the docs, I thought things would improve.....
Happy to talk. Live in the BoP
Hi - agree with all of the above. Find out if there are people in yur area who are happy to be contacted. Ann Andrews book Positively Parkinsons was helpful to me. I have been dipping back into it for the last two years.
Keep moving and keep positive.
