Why is this group called Charlie's Circle?

Thanks to liz_crisp for posting the link to this group on the OPA group - I had no idea it existed and have been coming onto healthunlocked since I was diagnosed in 2013 with inoperable and incurable stage 4 cancer of the Oesophageal-Gastric junction.

I'm curious to know how the group got its name :-)

Cheers

Dave

Hi Dave, in 2010 Charlie and I both had the I. L procedure, the OPA site was in its infancy with just a few of us swapping stories about our progress. Sadly, Charlie's cancer returned and found there wasn't a site for people who were diagnosed as terminal. She wanted a separate site where they could discuss what was happening to them without distressing people who were doing well. So Charlie took the step to set up Charlie's Circle.

I hope this is of help

Thank you for this group. As a carer for my husband who probably have secondary cancer (from his initial oesophagus cancer) to his liver lung; spots in his bones and hit spots around the area where his original oesophagus was located.

Tomorrow my husband is having a bronchoscopy/biopsy procedure arranged by the oncologist.

My husband may also have a ‘new’ cancer in his mouth which the oncologist has also arranged an MRI to the mouth.

We are worried, sad and devastated with the current situation and would like to know how I can care for my husband.

My husband is 18 months post IL and was recovering very well, getting into his ‘new norm’ routine, then this hit us out of the blue. It started with him having problems finishing the small amount of food he eats and was losing weight for past 2 months.
