In the UK, Cancer Research UK has a reliable website
cancerresearchuk.org/about-...
This therapy is at an early stage and in the UK the vaccines are mainly available through clinical trials. As such, it may be very difficult to find people with the experience you wish to find, and, before trial results are known, it would be difficult for doctors to give a judgement either. There may be medical research papers giving preliminary results of this treatment, but these would need to be treated with knowledgeable caution.
Trying to put myself into your father's shoes, I would think that it might just depend on what stage and prognosis his cancer is. Is it at an early stage when the chances of successful treatment are higher? Or is he advised that established treatment options will not succeed and that he has nothing to lose by trying something new? Does he feel obliged to try anything regardless of the chances and cost? Unfortunately it not a black and white situation where the results are guaranteed.
How will the funding issue be resolved? I know that some things are priceless. Does he have faith in the doctor? A good doctor will be happy to refer him to a knowledgeable colleague for a second opinion.
Hello,
Thank you so much for your reply. My father was thought to be T2 EC, however after his esophagectomy, they found node involvement.
He refused chemo and radiation because he's scared of the side effects..that is why he is considering immunotherapy. We are trying to find a hospital that can give this treatment to international patients..
