Hello 👋

Just joined this forum & only found out about it today. Although I am on another forum, have been for over 2yrs, never really enough people talking about OA.

But YAY at last, people who are the same as me. 😀

So, i'm Ruth, diagnosed with Severe Osteoarthritis of my neck & shoulders, & with agonising pains in my head, which felt like someone was flicking all my nerves in my head. My GP told me at the time, that 'I was quite young to have OA', I was 47.

Now very nearly turning 50, I have OA throughout my whole body, more severe in my back. Only meds I take at the moment are Gabapentin, tried others which didn't agree with me, or did nothing at all.

I take the day as it comes, try & stay active, work part-time at a special needs primary school as a lunchtime supervisor, now on 6 weeks well deserved hols, relaxing and pottering, with plenty of cups of tea to hand. 😉

Welcome to the community! This is a new community and I believe the only one on HU focused on osteoarthritis. As this community grows we would love to hear from you about your needs and ways to improve the community.

Osteoarthritis is actually much more common now in working aged adults vs the traditional view of OA just affecting older adults. So you are not alone! I hope you find a sense of community and support here!
