Great to have you on here, smmiller4! You're invited to share your story here for other patients on the waitlist to hear how you found your donor.

May I ask you how you approached your donor for a kidney transplant?

Was it easy to ask? Did you know the person? How many did you ask?

Was your surgery easy?

Thank you for sharing.

Hello, finding a donor is not an easy task. I spent several hours contacting people who I thought might be potential donors. What I learned is that it is hard to ask someone to be a donor. It is easier to ask someone if they know someone who might be interested or asking someone to help share your story so that potential donors can contact you. It is more about your donor finding you than you finding a donor. My transplant surgery went well. I was out of the hospital in three days. Recovery post surgery takes some time and patience as your body welcomes the new kidney and the drugs that you now need to take to help your body except your kidney. There were some small challenges but absolutely worth the risk
