The main problem for me with driving with ET is that the meds make me tired and not as alert. When tired I stop and rest for about 1/2 hour and grab a "diluted" (half water or half decaf) cup of coffee. I would suggest seeing a neurologist. I told mine I have no problem driving which is true by doing the above. I do not want to loose the driving ability either! But also need to drive safely. (Also with DBS Dr. said meds can be cut to about 50%.) Again, seeing a neurologist I believe is the first step. Hope this helps!

Thank you I don't take medication because of the side effects and still waiting to see a neurologist for a few months now it was the doctor that said I had essential tremors and has been trying different meds

lucrob1971 I have ET as well as MS. I tried meds. and eventually had Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) surgery. My driving was not impacted until I had had MS for awhile. I still have license, but have limited myself at driving due to a slower processing speed from thee MS. There may be driver ed. schools, or something offered through AAA or maybe AARP that have a program to help access driving skills.
