Mindfulness
By Angela Walker
We all know the story of Hercules half god half mortal but was he? Or did he just believe he was. Belief is very important when it comes to mindfulness we need to believe it will help us and it will. We are all trying to live a life while dealing with chronic pain.
What does mindfulness mean to you? ………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………
Mindfulness to me means becoming aware of my thoughts, feelings and body sensations in a non- judgemental way. Allowing me to be more aware of what triggers my pain. I know this works and it has improved my wellbeing allowing me to do what I do.
What can we do to become more mindful?
Meditate
Tai Chi
Yoga
Or just become more aware of the present moment
Think of your mind as the surface of a lake or an ocean. There are always waves on the water, sometimes big, sometimes small, and sometimes almost unnoticeable. The water's waves are churned up by winds, which come and go and vary in direction and intensity, just as do the winds of stress and change in our lives, which stir up waves in our mind. It's possible to find shelter from much of the wind that agitates the mind. Whatever we might do to prevent them, the winds of life and of the mind will blow. "You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"
