Have you tried any of these alternatives to dairy milk? Please say more about any you have tried in a comment.

I found rice and oat a bit heavy and almond milk comes with some kind of sweetening so you need to read the label really carefully but i do prefer the almond or coconut milks

Isn't drinking milk only relevant for certain types of Ovarian Cancer? I'm more concerned about only drinking Organic Unpasteurized natural cows' milk rather than milk that is infused with a whole load of added hormones and anti-biotics used in the production methods of factory farmed animals.

Have been 'almost' dairy free for 9 years now. I find the unsweetened soya milk suit my requirements best. Recently I have read that for cancer patients its not the best alternative due to the natural hormones it carries.

I like Rice and Almond milk the best, but I am sorry to admit I have had difficulty giving up dairy products. Whippit has reminded me about all the additives in cow's milk, and I remember someone said Soya also has hormones in it, thanks guys.......a good survey, and very helpful for those of us who have a tendency to forget how important our diet is.

Like Penny, I prefer cow's milk and dislike the alternatives I've tried. They all taste like watered down bean juice and are not appealing. I drink more black fragranced tea these days and save the milk for coffee and cups of Rosie!

I use oat milk most of the time. I was advised against soya by my breast surgeon (guess that's the hormone thing) and a nutritionist at Penny Brohn advised against rice milk. I do very much miss cow's milk and butter too!

I have tried them all and find Koko coconut milk the one I like best, it has the consistency of cow's milk and a pretty neutral taste so can cook with it, makes very good white sauce, and it is cheaper than almond which is nice but too much sugar. Cow's milk, or sheep and goats, is for infants, human or anima, and is designed to promote growth which is what we don't want if we have cancer.

I prefer soya milk though its not the best recommended by PBC. However any of the alternatives just means I drink less so have to choose between hydration and dehydration really. I do find some of the alternatives useful in cooking. Although I have given up dairy most of the time I am pragmatic. When I visit people they often don't have alternatives and I hate black tea and most herbals!! I also enjoy an ice cream or milk chocolate occasionally. An occasional dairy treat is OK for me as it then becomes a genuine treat.

I switched to goats milk 4 years ago because of ongoing sinus issues - switched to oat milk as soon as I was diagnosed (no idea why!) but now tend to have Koko (? spelling? - a type of coconut milk that is delicious!) or homemade almond or cashew milk. Almond, rice and soya milk from the shops is far too sweet for my tastebuds. Heat up oat milk with raw cacao and some natural sweetner and you have ready-made chocolate custard, as I discovered purely by accident *hehe*

I like the organic oat milk which I use in my smoothies and porridge and drink green tea or herbal teas (I hate normal tea and never been able to drink it). PBC recommends non-dairy for breast and ovarian cancer. I would love to know how to make my own almond milk as it is too sweet for me from the supermarket shelf....yuk lol x
