Has any one taken Migraine Support Formula, available on the internet? I am tempted but unsure - there are lots of great testimonials.

I once tried a combination of riboflavin, magnesium citrate and feverfew as recommended by a doctor speaking at a local meeting of the Migraine Action. I'm afraid it didn't work for me but then nothing much does.

Incidentally, I got into a big argument with Migraine Action who said I should be using magnesium sulphate - which as far as I know is an agricultural fertilizer. They said it's all the same really. Really?????

Hi John,it's me again! I know you,ve tried food elimination but have you been tested for intolerance? I sent off a blood sample last week which showed that I have certain antibodies present, meaning I have a food intolerance! Now I have to have further tests done to find exactly what I,n intolerant/ allergic to ... Will be costly but I going to see if I can get it done on NHS or private healthcare. I have to admit I, not convinced that this is causing my actual full migraines but could attribute to headaches. That said I am still on gotu kola and have had one bad headache in the week that lasted about 12 hours but no migraine yet and this is the one week of the month that my head is horrendous usually so i will keep track and let you know what happens. No side effects either just pleasantly calm.

Hi- that sounds promising i'm glad your migraines have lessened i know you're like me and have kids to contend with-the gotu kola sounds great if it makes you feel calm too, im tempted to try it too as part of my problem is all the anxiety that goes with feeling ill a lot.

Jo

Hi poppy joe,

If you decide to add gotu kola to your current meds you need to check that there are no reactions. I only say this because yours contains Valerian which has sedative properties and so does gotu kola. I,m glad you seem to be having positive reaction. Keep us posted with your success, I will do the same :)

Hi there, just to clarify on the topic of magnesium for migraine, magnesium sulphate (often referred to as ‘Epsom Salts’) is the intramuscular / intravenous form of magnesium for which there is some evidence of benefit from one study in acute migraine with aura (for more information visit ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/121.... However, it is not used routinely as a migraine preventative because as an oral compound it has excessive laxative effects. In general we would recommend migraineurs look for other magnesium types that end in ‘ate’, particularly glycinate, but also gluconate, lactate and orotate. The best thing is to talk to your doctor and then try one kind (magnesium can be purchased from health food shops) and see how your body handles it. (Like most migraine treatments / managements, the effects do tend to vary from person to person). Migraine Action does have a leaflet, prepared in conjunction with our medical advisory board, on the topic of magnesium to help migraines which can be obtained from our website (migraine.org.uk). We hope this is helpful.

Hi- i have started taking the migraine support formula 3 days ago so i'll let you know how it goes. You take 6 tablets per day (3 with one meal and 3 with another) and they offer a money back guarantee if it doesnt work although if all the testimonals and feedback ive had are right then it actually seems to work to some extent for most people so i thought it was definately worth a try before going down the Amitryptiline route. Ive had a few days where a migraine has threatened but they didnt turn into full migraines so heres hoping. Good luck. Jo.

Hi. I am looking for treatments not for myself, but a close friend and what wondering about this specific medication. It's a little pricey so wanting to know (aside form the website testimonials) if it's working for anyone. How has it been for you?
