Can you see a future in which you hav... - National Migraine...
Can you see a future in which you have better control of your migraine?
But not because of drug treatments - its gone, since I switched to a vegan diet...
also not to do with treatments but a family history of migraines (grandmother, mother) which disappeared in their 50s
If you have gone vegan, please ensure that you get enough B12 either through fortified foods or by taking moderate supplements (5mcg a day should be sufficient). Sure you are aware that B12 is only found in animal products but just in case.
Unsure, as it depends on what future treatments will be available.
More and more research is being done. There is more information available to sufferers and those around them affected by the disease.
I'm hopeful that with treatments, drug interventions, research and information, it will be easier to manage my migraines.
No, becuase I am not even given current treatments or medicine. I have really tried everything and can't get them to stop.
Aimovig has reduced migraine significantly, from 18 per month to 3.
Yes because I have learnt to be persistent, do my own research, not take no for an answer and make lifestyle changes rather than rely just on drugs.
Yes - I am on a trial for one of the new crgp inhibiting drugs. I had 15-18 days of migraine a month and had been chronic for many years. I haven’t, however, had a migraine since I started the trial last May. Life-changing.
Hi Moon_Struck. I know exactly what you’re going through and wouldn’t wish it on anyone. I’m on a trial for a drug company called Teva. The trade name of the drug will be Ajovy. It works in a slightly different way from Aimovig but is still a cgrp inhibitor. It’s thought that these will be available next May/June in the U.K. (Yes, I am in the U.K.) I’m not looking forward to the end of the trial, I can assure you, because this has transformed my life.
I’ve looked at my diet again! Starting from the point of ‘pain safe foods ‘ only and working through the dirty dozen migraine food triggers one by one! My hunch is that my future is - no alcohol , no caffeine and very limited sugar (?maple syrup an exception) ; a super healthy practically vegan diet and a sedate ( one job a day) no stress , restful sleep filled daily life! Bring it on if it reduces my pain levels ! I’m still going to get regular migraines but hopefully I can control the pain with just paracetamol! Fingers crossed 🤞
