Does your disability define who you are? What does it say about you?
My CP does not make me who I am. My little sister has always told me that having CP makes me stronger, because most people aren't strong enough to deal with it.
I wouldn't say that cp defines who I am, but it is definately a big part of what makes me who I am.
It's made me a very strong and determined person, and I also think it has made me more tolerant of other peoples differences.
I never shy away from my cp, and am confident when talking about it, and the things that go with it, often making jokes aboiut some of the things it causes me to do, like falling over or dropping things
I have never let my disability define me. I have always tried to break the mould of stereotypes and perceptions.
I think it has made may determined and I never give up. There has been times where I have had to relearn to walk while recovering from operations...these experiences make me stronger and appreciate my support network of friends and family. Times can be tough but I always aim for the positive goal in life! I have a law degree and I grab opportunities with both hands.
It doesn't define who I am as a person I define who it is to me!
I would say cp has shaped who I am, cos as a person with a visible disability you get some experiences that wouldn't be there if I was without cp. It has definetly made me stronger and more determinded than I might have needed to be without the cp.
