concerned about going on holiday and if I get Covid

I am due to go in holiday to Scotland next week and have read levels of infection are high there.l have CLL not on active treatment and as yet have not had Covid. If I caught the virus there what is the procedure to be able to have anti viral medicine if I needed them?

Hi Fiona, good to see you are thinking of coming up to Scotland. I live in Scotland and although the numbers are high, everyone is going about their business normally. However, there are still people wearing masks. So if you would like to do that then that’s fine - in crowded places I would advise that anyway. I’m sorry I don’t know about how to get anti virals, although living here , I have a telephone number I can call on NHS Scotland to hopefully get some.With a bit of luck you shouldn’t need any.

Hi Fiona, sorry I cannot help but perhaps it is just being sensible, as I am am sure you are already being. You might have a look on NHS Scotland's website.Perhaps take proof of your diagnosis, vaccines and being Clinically Extremely Vulnerable with you.

I,m 74, had MF and AF since 2017, had Sepsis and Covid last Feb - March, still recovering from the Sepsis - fatigue and weakness, but Covid didn't seem to cause me any great problems. Just had Covid again, very mild, headache and a bit tired, so keeping isolated for 10 days. Resuming activities end of the week.

Hey! I'm in Wales, so I know what our protocol is, not Scotland. However, when I got covid and DH isolated and did not, the dr said that his CLL antivirals (he had failed chemo and then stopped ibrutinib due to a secondary cancer that made them impossible to swallow, but he has an antiviral / antibiotic cocktail daily cos he can't fight off anything) mean that, because I am asthmatic, all their CLL covid research says I was at more risk.This is a long way of saying is it worth asking about a holiday course of antiviral? I mean on top of masking up and distancing?

We're supposed to be going on holiday soon (if he gets over his pneumonia) and we all plan on masking and distancing and sanitising as our main protections

Hello.I actually tested positive for Covid whilst I was on holiday in Lincolnshire a few weeks ago.I reported my test as usual and was contacted by the CMDU. However it was my home unit and when I told them where I was they said they couldn't treat me and they would have to refer me on to the Lincolnshire equivalent. However as I'd had Covid worse in February and had the infusion drip ,was up to date with jabs I didn't qualify this time as my symptoms were very mild. If you have a named nurse or CNS make sure you have their contact and your GP of course.
