Hello everyone. I'm quite new to HCCN and attended the last conference (November /December) having been given a flyer about a few days before. I was very impressed with the whole day, however it was Marion Foremans's talk about coming to terms with mortality that particularly help me. Since the death of my wife Kate, of 50 years in May 2016, and successfully recovering from prostate cancer treatment, the message Marion gave meant much to me and gave me the motivation to act. That following week, I put all my affairs in tidy order; instructing estate agent, solicitor and funeral director. Prepaying wherever, selling my shares, and upgrading the car - but downscaling my house, the better to cope with myself and some memoirs in what is probably my last chapter. All started, some completed others well on the way. I now go regularly to 'chair Yoga' on HCCN Fridays, volunteer at Sue Ryder Hospice and shop in Peterborough and getting everything in place ready for the downsizING and ease any future burdens upon my daughter, Mary and her little family. I will be ever grateful to HCCN, Woodlands and Hinchingbrooke for caring for me - and Sue Ryder for 'hospice-at-home' for my Kate. Bless you all!
