I also have genotype 1B Hep C - in fact I contracted it 30 years ago and I am still well with annual check ups and 5 yearly liver biopsies. I believe there are 6 genotypes and these may be further subdivided. Go to Patient UK or The Hepatitis C Trust for lots more info.

Type 1B is much less virulent then some others but is difficult to eliminate. However new treatments offer hope.

Hi - there are 5 Genotypes - but they have Subs types 1a and 1b
