Second Scan on liver.

Hi everyone it’s been a while I’ve been on here. First time I had my scan on my liver they said early Cirrhosis well I want a second opinion showed the doctor my results he asked me who said you have cirrhosis? I mentioned the test results and showed him the paperwork so I had another one done and he said NO I don’t have early Cirrhosis but I have thought about maybe he’s not telling me the truth he didn’t give me the picture of my results and info on paper saying no cirrhosis I just don’t know who to believe I also switched doctors but now I’m noticing my number 2 is light tan color so I don’t know what to think. I’m on disability I eat more fish and vegetables and drink Hydration drinks because of my blockage lower intestine I had since 2018.

Hi, I'm sorry to hear this, I can imagine you are very confused and frustrated at the conflicting information you have got. Cirrhosis can be diagnosed in a number of ways but it is not clear which scan you had? If it was an ultrasound, that could possibly pick it up and/or indicate a fatty liver (which some people have with or without hep C), or was it a Fibroscan? They can usually give a pretty reliable result of liver damage and would score it accordingly. It may be that you are borderline severe fibrosis/early cirrhosis, but of course it is your doctor who should explain the results and what they indicate. Have you been treated for your hep C? If not, new quick easy treatments are available, without treatment the risk for developing cirrhosis becomes higher the longer it is left (usually after about 25/30 years of infection. And (in the UK), people who do have cirrhosis would be seen every 6 months for monitoring. Also have you mentioned that your stools are pale - this could be for many reasons, but liver damage may be one of them so I would bring this to your doctors attention. You can read more about cirrhosis on our website hepctrust.org.uk

Did they tell you what your actual Fibroscan score was? There is information on the scale they use to determine liver damage on the link below, although blood tests and an ultrasound would help to provide a full picture. hepctrust.org.uk/informatio...

I can see why you were confused! They say dx (meaning diagnosis) cirrhosis at the top, but the Fibroscan result shows little or no liver damage (see the link I sent you previously for an explanation of Fibroscan scores) and that there is no need for follow up, so that is very clear and reassuring. I wonder if it is a typo about the cirrhosis, or there was a concern about it before this scan, but it is clear from this result that you do not have cirrhosis.

If your stool continues to be an odd colour, there may be many other reasons for this, although of course it can vary depending on what we eat, so I would monitor and if it continues to concern you, speak to your doctor about other possible causes.

Thank you so much !! That’s one relief. I changed doctors they keep my CBC w/ diierential private they won’t post it on my chart. So Monocytes we’re high but I’ll go tho the hospital and get copies of my labs cause I recently was in ER now I found out I might have uterus cancer so I need a biopsy.

So Thanks again.
