Hi, Just joined. Both my wife and I have hearing aids. She is much more deaf than me, completeley deaf in one ear, and is finding following the television very stressfull. We always have the subtitles on but they are often frustratingly out of sync. We are looking to update our soundbar and if anyone has any personal experience would like to hear it. We are looking at Zvox which claims to be especially for the hard of hearing but none of the reviews are by someone who is actually hard of hearing .

Don’t have a sound bar but do have a streamer and a little box which plugs into the back of the tv. It turns my (NHS) HAs into wireless earphones but hearing people can still listen to tv normally - I often use subtitles as well . The sound quality for music is a bit wa wa that’s the only thing a sound bar will give you much better quality. I can also use the streamer to connect to my mobile and iPad. I wouldn’t be without it.
Thanks for that. Where would I find information about these and do you reccomend a particular one?
My HA are Oticon so I got an Oticon streamer pro ( although I had to pay for it I didn’t have to pay VAT) my brother recommended it so I asked at my audiology appointment as they were updating my Oticon aids and they made sure they were a model with that capability. You need to speak to wherever you got your aids for their advice (NHS or private) as it would be an expensive mistake to buy something that wasn’t compatible. Some expensive aids will Bluetooth directly with a tv adapter, mobile etc without needing a streamer (- I have to wear it round my neck but it isn’t that obvious under my clothes - I use it to listen to music when I go running also 😊)
