Yep gave up coffee about a month and a half ago. I'm still on the fence re soya...I tend to give it a miss, and then now and again I'll have something with soya flour or soy beans in it and then I get gassy... But coffee was definite: went back on it for a week and it wasn't pretty! Good luck Ian!

Personally I gave up coffee and I felt a lot better. Lattes made me queasy and strangely I always felt tired after drinking 2-4 cups a day. There's lots of chatter about whether coffee is good for coeliacs or not yet not much research. Like most thinks post GF life - try what works for you. Try and see if giving up certain foods makes you feel better (eg chilli and chickpeas can be hard to digest for anyone let alone coeliacs). There's also a lot of debate about Soya as it can allegedly alter your thyroid gland and your hormones. Many people eat it and feel fine. Some coeliacs choose to avoid it. If you're looking for a good milk/ soya replacement lactofree milk is pretty good and rice or coconut milk is often totally dairy free and fortified with vitamin D.

In terms of chocolate it all depends on where you live. As even the same brands have different production methods in different countries.

See our Pinterest board for some inspiration:

Our personal chocolate favourites are:

- twirl

- toblerone

- chocolate buttons

However - if you are also lactose free - as many coeliacs are at initial diagnosis due to damage to the villi then it can be harder to find great GF chocolate. Many choc that is lactose free is produced on a line which handles wheat which is a real pain. Yet these brands are often praised on many of our pages:

I'm sure others on here will also have good recommendations.

I have found that proper filter coffee is ok but instant coffee is a disaster. I don't get on with anything soya.

sainsbury GF DF chocolate is ok at a push but it is dark choc. I use it in cakes, biccies, etc. Also, try to get hold of some Green Frog drinking choc squares. Lovely melted into lactofree milk as a hot choc.

I gave up regular coffee about a month ago due to the problems I was getting, but I am fine with decaf.
