So, as i said, it's been just over a week since I had my first injection, thankfully i was in a position to take what ever it threw at me.

The first day was pretty hellish (off the scale)but distracted myself with colouring in, the second day was hellish but I forced myself to get dresses and went out a walk with a friend, the third day wasn't quite as hellish but I was extremely lethargic, the fourth day I experienced extreme fatigue and nippy pain in joints but pain/sensations all over had lessened; i was convinced I was doing well with all over pain lessening, the fifth day was pretty much the same as previous day, the sixth day was more of the same, the seventh day was more of the same, yesterday and today just the same; can't seem to get the pain level below 4-5.

I know I need to get back to gentle exercise, guided meditation and enjoyment; easier said than done.

I just wish i felt well enough to do everything i want to do. I understand that I do tend to put high expectations on myself, i shall work on this too.

Remember and be kind to yourself.

Stay safe, keep well & be strong!

Hi :)

Sorry to hear that you’ve had a negative experience with your first Covid-19 vaccine. I must say that I love the drawing you’ve done.

It sounds as if you are doing really well in remembering some of the tools you know that works for you to help close the pain-gate. It can be difficult to do relaxation/meditation when you are in a flare or concentrating too much on ‘needing’ to relax. Try not to be too hard on yourself as it sounds as if you are being positive and trying the techniques that can help.

Remember that under activity, as well as over activity, can effect our chronic pain. Have a look at your pacing and baselines to help keep you on track. There’s no harm in taking things back a step or two and then building it back up again. Remember that some days just getting out of bed, getting dressed and having a cuppa is an achievement; there’s nothing wrong with this.

You mentioned gentle exercise. Have you ever tried Qi Gong? There’s lot of videos on YouTube and I find this helpful. It’s not as intense as Tai Chi and can really help with movement and centring your breathing and thoughts. It can be done sitting or standing as well.

We are all guilty of wanting to do more and achieve more. Remember what your values and goals are, this is what’s important to you. Sometimes it takes us a little longer to get there than we thought it would, but this all helps us learn and grow. Embrace yourself and the person you are. Be proud of yourself and achievements.
