Hi DrJfan666,

I don't know what pain medicines you have been taking, but 10 years is a long time and many pain medicines are associated with withdrawal effects when they are stopped. These withdrawal effects can include emotional and mental difficulties, like the ones you describe. It is always best to come off medicines in a slow and controlled way, following advice from a doctor or pharmacist, but even then, this is no guarantee that it will be straightforward. The good news is that these effects are usually only temporary.

I wonder if other group members have experiences or tips to share?

Martin
