Contraceptive Implant Removal

Hi, It's coming up to three years since (on the 6th March) I had the implant put in, so it will need to be removed soon. I was just wondering how long you can wait to have it removed after the three years are up? Because I am terrified of needles and of having it removed on my own and I want to wait till I am back from uni which isn't for another month. Any advice would be great!
