I’m not good enough to be here.

Hi. Mentally, I’m not handling this well. Seems to be less support for the mental aspect of cancer than the standard of care, which statistically is not acceptably effective in the general public. Keep fighting. Never give up.

There are many others on the advanced Prostate Cancer forum that may be able to help, including myself.

Prostate cancer is is a scary diagnosis. Support in dealing with it is critical. The decisions you have to make are not easy. Help from those who have gone through those decisions are so important. You have to deal with different doctors and decide who is competent and who isn't.

I get it. I have been fighting Prostate cancer For 27 years. Don't give up.

Cheez986,

You are "good enough" to be here, so do not believe that about yourself. When I was diagnosed Stage 4 from PT3A, it was a shock and I started planning what I needed to do to settle my affairs. Over time, I have adjusted to the fact and acted accordingly. No man is an island. Share. Ask questions. The medications involved can effect your emotions, in addition to the side effects. There are experienced people here that can give advice. I was where you are at 2 years ago and hit it "hard and fast". I have been under a PCa diagnosis almost 4 years now. Hang tough, brother....

One day we ALL are going to leave this world. So we are ALL in it together. Once I accepted that important fact, I found it much easier to deal with the cancer battle. Cherish and focus on what you do have, and whatever you don't have will not seem so overwhelming.

Get professional help. As soon as I developed anxiety about my cancer, I went to a good psychiatrist and obtained a good medication that erase anxiety and depression.

I find it helpful to talk to family about goals.

As the other replies have indicated, getting the upper hand with the physical & emotional impacts of PCa or any other serious illness can present a serious challenge to even the best of us. A cancer diagnosis is a heavy hit to one's emotional stability. We all can probably remember well the day, time, and place where we got that sad news.

Please reach out through your family, friends, and medical community for support when you need it. We are all brothers as we face the challenges our common disease presents to our lives. HU is, at it's very foundation, a platform that is here to provide support from other patients. The roads we travel individually, we openly share here.

Stay Strong & Safe, and Be Well!

Cancer diagnosis is very tough on both the patient and the family. It’s been a year since my dads diagnosis and I’m still dealing with several emotions now and then. I can only imagine how much harder it would be to the patient himself.

1) Talk to family or close friends. Don’t bury everything you feel within you.

2) Join a local support group to express your feelings

3) Write down your thoughts In a diary.

4) Do not think / research about it way more than needed.

5) Take up a new activity.
