Hi my names Sam and I’m a recovering Alcoholic. Been in recovery for 13 years. I drank thoughout my pregnancy with my 15 year old. Over the years I’ve noticed things and had concerns. My daughter has both dyslexia and dyscalculia, has poor vision, Sacral Dimple, social anxiety, small for her age blar blar blar. I believe she has FASD the problem is getting it diagnosed! There is only one clinic in the UK(Surrey) and the child needs genetic testing first to rule out any other genetic disorder (had this done) and £3500 funding which I am having issues getting. Can anybody offer any advise or tell me how else to get a diagnosis?

Thanks.

Hi did genetics not offer a fasd diagnosis? If They had you confirm I g prenatal exposure to alcohol plus all her disabilities They should have been able to offer something. I think the dr can refer to surrey i am still looking to see if I can get funding myself as imy little boy is under SGO there is no lac or adoption funding-great loophole created by SS to save money ....The genetics have offered my son a GDD due to prenatal exposure to drugs and alcohol but wouldn'

Sorry i pressed send before finishing or autocorrect. I was saying the genetics team offered a GDD to alcohol and drugs exposure. Trouble is they offered arnd diagnosis then when I asked for it to be reconsidered they said gdd secondary etc.

If you ask to be reseen and bring photos from when she is younger as pictorial evidence of facial features plus a list of disabilities and how it effects her and if you dig on this site tgere is an overlapping problems chart that shows how fasd mimics add add odd tax bipolar etc which is brilliant I have used it so many times.

Good luck x

I only saw the paediatric once for him to authorise that the bloods be tested. He just sent a letter to the GP discharging her.

I am not an expert but I would ask for a referral or go back to genetics and ask for someone else to see you. Whereabouts are you based? There is a really good support group in Medway called fas d awareness
