Which of the below have you tried since ... - Early CKD Support
Which of the below have you tried since diagnosis with Chronic Kidney Disease?
Adopting a more alkaline diet.
Not drinking fizzy drinks at all
Trying as far as possible to stay free from processed foods
Healthier eating, always cook meals from scratch, fresh fruit and veg.
Exercise every day, yoga, swimming, walking, golf, cycling. Much healthier lifestyle.
Leaching root vegetables before cooking
No processed foods
One would be silly not to try everything to improve ones condition .....
No red meat, no additives, stop worrying (this is the biggest contributor to ailing health)
I have changed my diet, to almost vegan when possible, putting no animal products into my body, my weight has decreased, my health and energy have improved, my readings from my blood test are unbelievable, my GP is esatatic by my results. A great improvement, I have followed no diets just common sense trying to do the best for my health.
This is close to what I’ve done. Plant-based diet since plant protein byproducts are filtered more easily by the kidneys. Exercising, specifically cardio and strength training. Initial exercising temporarily increase protein in my urine but once muscle started building, that spike in protein went down. Also began anti-psychotics last year for my anxiety and that has helped tremendously with managing my stress so my immune system doesn’t get triggered by stressors and go into overtime fighting my organs. I really can’t stress how important managing your mental health is when you’re dealing with an autoimmune disease in conjunction with organ-involvement like the kidneys or heart.
I agree a healthy diet is the best thing you can do to help yourself. Eat what agrees with you any food that doesn't don't eat it.
I have also tried to eat fewer potassium-rich foods such as tomatoes and bananas.
problem is settling on a diet for example oranges are to be avoided for my kidney but welcomed for the vitamin C which helps protect me from colds which are potentially fatal for my COPC and IPF
need a good dietitian but one who crosses the boundary
I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY GP TO REDUCE MY POTASSIUM LEVELS, BUT NO INSTRUCTIONS GIVEN FOR HOW TO DO THIS - CURLEYTOP1.
I eat more fish cod, 🍤,crab 🦀 and chicken. 🍇 ,lots of water 💦. I'm trying not to eat as much.
Doctor put me on a "pre-dialysis " diet and modified exercise routine. Both are helping and CKD level has stabilized.
All
Almost vegan nutrition. low protein intake. No alcohol and a lot of exercised but mild ones like Yoga, bicycle, long walking distances (5-8kms/3 times per week). Food supplements such as plant based Multivitamine, ALA, CoenzymeQ10 and Vitamine C and herbal teas (Chinese and Nettle). After 3 years stable on my blood values (1,30 to 1,45)
Huge reduction of animal protein. Also take chitosan, but haven't had lab work since starting.
Mindfulness, Guided Imagery, stress relief, education on kidney disease.
Changed eating habits...no carbonation..sugar..salt..stay hydrated...do lab work and read it...try to stay on regular sleeping hours...Prepare myself for Dialysis...Make sure my loved ones know I love them and enjoy every day that I am given...
Very low protein plant based diet supplemented by keto acid analogues.
Urea went from 13.5 (range 2.5-7.8) in 3 months back down to 6.4. Cholesterol went from 6.6 to 5.2. Creatine dropped from 209 to 198.
Farxiga
I've never been able to eat much junk food or artificially coloured/flavoured foods, and not been interested in fizzy drinks/alcohol.
But since being made aware of moderate stage kidney disease, I've reduced the high potassium/phosphorus fruit and vegies I used to love to eat.
Funnily enough, I was tending to eat more cauliflower (a kidney-friendly veg) before I knew of the decline in the kidneys.
Oh, and taking notice of all my tests. Found out I've had kidney disease for at least the last eight years, but was only informed of a decline by a new dr last year.
