I would go to any of dyslexia association web sites ( bdadyslexia.org.uk/ )and get advice, some have on-line Dyslexia tests ( spot-your-potential.com/ind... )but these are seen more of a guide and you have to pay a fee, usually about £25 - £30, if these tests suggest that you are dyslexic then you can go on to a test with a psychologist, the BDA, (see link above) will advise you on where to get this test/analysis but it will probably cost you around £300 and is not available through the NHS but some employers may help.

Hope this helps

hi, there r several things you can do-

if your at college or university ask for an assessment they will send you to the right person, give you tips on how to over come ur particular difficulties plus u will be entitled to a lot of free equipement.

2. go on the British psychological website and find an educational psychologist-get assessment and keep the paper record, u may need this for later stuff

3 theres a very good book called the gift of dyslexia by ron davis, very good, lots of tips, for me it was slowing down my thinking that really helped

I see by the use of the £ sign that several of our correspondents are in the UK.

I am in the States and I found a psychologist by googling the name of my disability.

In my case, I have only been officially diagnosed with ADD and Asperger's Syndrome. I learned of the different kinds of dyslexia and of dyscalculia by reading Thomas West's book In the Mind's Eye. Then I googled some more and found Brian Butterworth's Dyscalculia Screener. That seems to be for children, but I think some of the screeners would be willing to screen an adult.

I was studying Maths and English level 1 & 2 that is free at most colleges and they test me. I went to South Thames college in South west London. there is also a women's college in Surbiton called Hillcroft that run dyslexia and dyspraxia course witch are six sessions. they also test you, but give priority to those who may need to prove it to work or on a course so they can be given extra time. I hope this helps. I was in my late twenties when I was assessed xx
