I am 36 years old. I am diabitic from last one year. I take insuin twice a day. Is it possible to quit insulin and go for tablets?

Not sure about that, but have you changed your lifestyle eating habits? I was on tablets for 6 months, but because I totally changed my eating, I lost 2.5 stone in that time, sugar went from 78 to 45, I was taken off them. Now, 18 months further down the line,I am 6 stone lighter, sugar is 34, bp 135/72. I am no longer classified as diabetic by my insurance company! So, the main thing is - change your eating habits!

Let us know how you get on!

It depends whether you have Type 1 or Type 2. Type 1 will always have to use insulin as their pancreas does not work at all. Type 2 is different of course. I have T2 and take Gliclazide and 1 injection of long acting insulin at night. I was taking day time insulin but like LadyBal I changed my diet completely and now I don't take insulin in the day at all. My blood sugars now range between 4 and 7, my last HbA1c was 6 (old money) and my BP was 130/60. So, yes, try changing your diet and good luck!! XX

Look at NHSChoices website. there's a lot of good information. With the age of onset it's most likely type 2, is that true? You need to get your doctor to answer that question. Good luck. :)
