I am sure it is my prescription drugs that lower my HBP.

If one is diagnosed as hypertensive please always go for prescription medicines.Other factors do help in more than one way including reducing the load of medication. Thank you.

That's caffeine reduction. I don't drink much anyway but I try to go caffewine free after lunch time.

I discontinue medicines often, as sometimes it hits 105/65. I have increased coffee since I quit smoking.

I stopped alcohol much before becoming hypertensive.

Prescription Meds, has helped lower my diabetes from using insulin to tabs. though my diabetes seem to be under control, three of my fingers from the small finger on both hands are numbness and painful, very heavy and hard to bend, the same situation is also happening with the three toes on both my feet. I feel a lot of weight within my buttocks near the lower back. My knees are painful and I walk with a lot of pain and difficulties

Sorry giving up coffee and smoking is impossible.

Don't drink, don't smoke, could do with losing some weight but exercise is difficult because of RA, Vasculitis and Bronchiectasis. Thankfully don't have diabetes (PHEW!). I take 10mg Felodipine daily, but still have high bp. Then I am on long term steroids for Vasculitis. Started in September 2014 on 40mg daily, along with 5 methylpred infusions (1,000 mg each) gradually been reduced to 10mg daily. So I'm hoping BP might start to get lower soon. Last one wasn't too bad, 180/90.

I also stopped eating bananas since they have too much potasium.  Never knew that until a friend of mine told me years ago.

This is confusing, as my main BP drug is potassium based, ie. Potassium Losartan! Can anyone tell me if it's ok or not to eat Bananas if you're trying to control your BP?

Please check with your doctor. Most blood pressure medications say to not eat bananas, regular oranges and grapefruit juice.

It depends on what medication you're on, I guess.

lost weight, 10000 steps a day, low carb and low cal diet has enabled me to drop one of my medicines. Still on Bisoprolol and Perinderopril and 1/2 dose of eplerinone.

I am taking Exforge 10/320 (once daily), glucophage 850 (twice daily), Essentiale Forte 30 (twice daily) - all physician prescribed

I think with additional diet (doing GM diet tomorrow) to loose weight and exercise would result significantly...

currently at 105 kg

Weight reduction and more exercise as well as the meds. Lost 2.5 stone so far, now at 19.5 so a fair bit to go still.
