Have you worn dentures before?

No not until I got these

Ok. Have you been back to the dentist to tell them of symptoms?

Sorry. I’m not going to guess until I know history 😉

Well. An educated guess anyway😉

That's not an allergy, you just need to wear the denture until you get used to it.

And you know that for a fact do you??

Yes. Denture allergy basically non-existent. I've had plenty of pts who say they have an allergy, when they're just not happy with the denture and want a new one made free of charge. The symptoms people come up with.

More likely to be psychological.

But maybe go back to the dentist, as I asked would be best advice? After all, without patch testing, how can you say for sure?

Oh and dare I say ‘just go away and let the denture ‘bed in’ , is rather poor advice.

Dentists can't patch test, that's a job for the GP.

And sometimes giving time to get used to your new denture is the best advise, rather than trying to find a reason for a non-existent problem.

Ok. For your benefit I will explain. The patient goes back to the dentist and tells them of problem. If the dentist thinks it necessary they would refer them to either their gp or a dental hospital, or a specialist dermatology department where they would carry out any further tests to determine any possible problem. Just telling the patient to go away and persevere is not only unprofessional, it can be detrimental to their health.

Just in my opinion of course
