UTI's? OH yes on the UTI. Waitig on doctor''s results as I write. 3rd time in 18 months. Orders from dr. Water, water, and water. Antibotics Keep on it. A friend of mine was wiped out sence last October.. My dr at Rush in Chicago, informed me with PD UTIs are serious. So lets drink, rest and I'll let you know what my results are and what my new family doctor does this time. Prayers out to you.

I have been on antibiotics almost continuously since February. I have been on 14 different antibiotics including intermuscular injections and bladder washes. For several months the bacteria was the same but after the injections the type of bacteria has changed 3 times. Tomorrow my doctor is admitting me to the hospital so I can see an infectious disease doctor. It is my understanding that they will probably insert a pic line and give me an array of antibiotics for about 6 weeks (only be in the hospital a day or two, I hope). I am so tired of all these doctor appointments. I PRAY THIS WORKS!

I also started taking Cranberry tablets as they are supposed to keep bacteria from sticking to your bladder similar to how "Plavix" keeps plaque from sticking to your arteries. Clearly, you must have to be free from infection for it to help. LOL!

Has your friend had a UTI since October?

I had never had a bladder infection in my 63 years until February. Sadly, I guess I'm making up for it now.

I have been there on a consistent basis over the past 3 years and have seen 4 nurse practitioners and finally 2 physicians. The bacterial infection has never shown its face, until my last office visit with a new physician (who happens to be DavId Eschenbach, MD,Fellow

Professor of OB/GYN, general surgery/ Clinic is vaginitis and vulvovaginal disorders at the University of Washington,. whom I gave the first and only urine specimen to. Not one clinition asked for a urine sample prior to that. The test came back with positive white cells in the urinary tract and some yeast cells. I would recommend that you see a specialist who can determine if there is any connection. Good Luck.

I have been seeing a specialist who has cultured all my urine samples. He gives me the appropriate drug for the bacteria I have at the time but it either doesn't clear it or it comes right back. It had been the same bacteria since it started but in the last 3 weeks it's changed to 3 different bacteria. Waiting to see another specialist tomorrow.

Unbelievable ! I give a urine sample almost every time I go to GP because I've had sporadic UTI. Lucky so far.

Terri, I have struggled also with UTI's, sinus infections, bronchitis, skin rashes, etc...been on way too many antibiotics according to my Primary Care Physician! She has me on a Probiotic! It's called Florijen 3. It's over the counter and you have to ask the pharmacy for it, because it is refrigerated. No prescription is needed! She explained to me that someone in our situations, such as PD, (some that get more infections), and you are on an antibiotic more often, it rids the body of the good antibodies as well as the bad! So we need to keep the good and the only way is taking something like this! Check with your Dr. of course, first! But it certainly can't hurt anything! I can't believe more doctors do not tell their patients with a lot of infections to take this! Hope this helps! It has me! I feel so much better! I also take pre-natal vitamins! Which has all the vitamins women need anyway! Can not take regular adult vitamins. They make me sick! Sure does help your hair and nails! And more, I'm sure! I have been taking the prenatal vitamins for only three weeks! Will let you know how I feel after awhile longer!

Blessings,

Carol

Carol,

How many and how often do you take Florijen 3? I have ordered some from Walgreens, should be in tomorrow. Thanks.

Carol,

Thanks so much! I'll certainly give it a try. I have been on over 12 antibiotic this year, had 4 bladder washes and was hospitalized and given IV antibiotics. It never clears or changes to another bacteria so the antibiotic has to be changed as well. I am currently on an antibiotic but I have decided to take myself off, not working anyway, and try the home remedies listed on the website below along with the Florjen 3 that you suggested. I'm so worried I'm going to get something and won't be able to take anything for it. It's been very stressful and has really worn me down. It's hard to keep your spirits up. I'm so thankful for my husband he truly is a blessing.

What made you decide to take prenatal vitamins?

Hugs and love, Terri

I take Florajen 3 once a day with food in the a.m.! Needs to be refrigerated too! Antibiotics rid the body of both good bacteria and bad! It can not tell the difference. So that's why you keep getting infections! We have to replace the good bacteria! It will fight off infections. I hope this really helps you! I would like to know! I started the pre-natal vitamins because a friend (that does not have PD) told me her doctor told her that they are so good for women of any age and not just the ones that are pg! Since I can't take regular adult multi-vitamins, I decided to give them a try! We'll see! At least they haven't made me sick yet! What can it hurt? I can't believe the doctor's are not prescribing pro-biotics for patients with a lot of infections! Especially when the antibiotics are not working any more! Let me know how it works for you!

Sorry it took so long to get back to you I had cataract surgery yesterday and had to go back to the surgeon today! I now have 20/20 vision in both eyes for distance, but do need readers for close up!

Take care Terri, and God's best to you!

Blessings,

Carol

I will let you know, I started the Florjen3 yesterday. I'll be forever grateful to you if something so simple solves the problem. If it does work I think you should let our PD community know that you recommended it to me and it worked (positive thinking). :-)

Glad to hear you had successful eye surgery. Good for you. I just ordered new glasses myself so my sight should improve too.

God's best to you as well.

Love and hugs, Terri
