Has anyone else had a serious heart condition which appears to have been greatly improved by the onset of PD?

My husband had a minor heart attack several years ago although it was so minor he didn't realize he had had one until doctors did tests. He was also diagnosed with Dilated Cardiomyopathy. His PD started - from what we can guess - a couple of years later. Since being on his PD meds and also a blood pressure med his heart seems to have gotten stronger. Can't explain why but heart doctor was pleased with his heart check--up this past month. Maybe the PD meds have something to do with it, who knows, but I am grateful at least one problem is improving. Hope you are doing well!

Raven, Thank you for your response to my question. My cardiologist agrees that PD sometimes improves the prognosis in heart related problems. I was going to relate the story of my good fortune but, after reading of your problems in caring for your husband, (next question), I will close with best wishes that your situation will improve.

My problem was Atherosclerosis leading to heart catheterisation, open heart surgery, and a six way stint implant, (unsuccessful), to repair a torn coronary artery. This left me carrying Nitroglycerin tablets for chest pain and a multitude of other pills. It also left me grateful, each morning, to see another sunrise.

I was dx with PD in November 2010. During the next year I began having dizzy spells and weakness due to low blood pressure. Since low blood pressure is a symptom of PD, we discontinued Lisinopril and Zettia, (blood pressure medications) and let Parkie manage it naturally. Since that time I have had no heart episodes, no twinges, nothing like previous experiences, KOW. I no longer carry Nitroglicerine. When I discussed it with my cardio, she mentioned new medical info which suggests that PD patients are at lower risk for heart attack and stroke than the general public.
