Capsules did nothing for me. I have better luck dissolving Mucuna Pruriens powder (1/2 teaspoon) in oat milk along with matcha green tea (1/2 teaspoon) and mannitol (1/2 teaspoon). I usually mix dry powders first then add oat milk slowly to avoid clumps. Your dosing of Mucuna and mannitol may be different than mine.
"Capsules did nothing for me."
What percent l-dopa were the capsules?
I tried both 20% and 40% Mucuna pruriens extract.
Did you open those caps or are you using another mucuna powder? It makes sense the green tea helped, as it can have carbidopa/entracapone- like effect.
Not opening capsules. Instead I am using Mucuna Pruriens powder from Nutricost. I purchased it on Amazon.
I see the Nutricost's is 40% l-dopa. I do prefer powder forms over caps since they're often free of binders and additives, and typically more cost effective.
Plus I think it’s the whole bean and not just the extract. Maybe the whole bean has other compounds which also act as active pharmaceutical ingredients. Together there might be a synergistic effect.
It's definitely an extract to have anywhere near the min 40% l-dopa. It still probably contains other beneficial compounds compared to the pure pharma l-dopa.
Is it available on the nhs
I've no clue. Perhaps someone can comment on that but I doubt any healthcare would cover the supplement.
What country are you in
I'm in the USA.
I've been on the capsules for 3.5 years and am very pleased with the results, I am using the 99% ldopa that my Dr compounds for his patients. I started with 250 mg 3 times a day, am now taking 650 mg 2 x a day.
That’s wonderful news! Who is your dr that compounds it for you.
Thank you
Capsules do not work as well and are more expensive. Ebay uk sells a very good 100% Mucuna Powder called Pure Selva. It is not expensive. Mix a teaspoon in a bit of fizzy drink. The seller is in Nth Yorkshire or Scarborough. It is not available on NHS.
