You are absolutely right. A lot of the people in the nursing homes are very poor however there is a lot of them that are well off. That's money is going to be coming into the circulation in US.

MBAnderson profile image

What do you mean, "that's money that is going to come into circulation..."??

I don't think it matters whether rich or poor. What matters is that the nursing homes are not getting the resources based on their need.

Article coming up in the next post.

I don't know if you have seen this article. This is about the behind the scene people that want to promote full force engagement in different states. I live in North Idaho and it started a few years ago. We are getting a lot of extremist , far-right people coming here and buying property and settling down here. Nobody said boo to them and they are really taking over. Narrow-mindedness and ar-47 go hand-in-hand.

Nursing home deaths, and inconsistency of reporting both deaths and diagnosed cases are a problem internationally. In Europe we have inconsistencies - France's figures jumped considerably a week or so ago when we started counting nursing home deaths, which are still not included in UK stats.

I see that based on an analysis in Hong Kong of mainland China, taking account of changes in diagnostic criteria, they estimate the true level of infections in China is 3 times higher than official figures.

In the US, if I understand properly, you do not have universal health care free (or near free) at the point of delivery, as we do in Europe, and so many more people lack the funds to attend hospital when ill, and are missed from the counts.

And finally, to compound the confusion, the USA is not a single state, a single uniform national approach, in the way that it is in European countries (and numbers). So parts of the USA are probably flattening the curve, whilst other parts are continuing to grow exponentially.

It's confusing, but I think the big picture from the shape of the graphs is a sound broad guide, in spite of those data weaknesses. And on that basis, things still look pretty scary in the USA. This weekend looks to be when the USA has twice as many deaths as Italy -and as you say, the USA figures are continuing to climb, whilst Italy's are slowly falling. Let's hope enough state governers act responsibly.

Unfortunately for my family who live there, whilst not quite matching the surreal USA performance, the UK is not yet on top of the problem either. I fear it may still be many weeks before I can visit them again.

Dear MBA, bottom line is that the nursing home population is a captive audience and the very definition of sitting ducks.

We also know that Parkinson's disorder patients are most likely to end up in these places which are esse petri-dishes. You are unfortunately right. Most will die. I am surprised that the number of deaths in Florida is not astronomical.

pdpatient profile image
pdpatient

It's a no brainer. I would head home now. Can you leave your transportation in Florida and fly back on the cheap?

Other option is to stay only at a Marriott because they have a plan to reduce exposure. They are usually pricey, but call the hotel directly to get a discount. I would really recommend the Residence Inn.

It seems some of us are into the hindsight game here. Hindsight is always perfect. Many on this forum who are posting here on this thread way back when I first wrote about it, thought very differently. They told me "nothing to worry about Sharon; you're so negative".."no worse than the flu, etc". I was actually reported by some to the moderator for bringing the truth as I saw it and still see it. Particularly my concern for neurological damage to PwP types.

I guess Azar, Redfield, Fuaci, and Birx (all the so-called experts) felt the same way then as did the governors. They still don't understand much of it from what I can tell.

Same goes for the EU countries which are disaster zones per capita and for Britain which has turned into a country with an unmitigated crisis and a possible "real" death toll of some 42,000.

"nothing to worry about Sharon"....

WinnieThePoo profile image
WinnieThePoo in reply to sharoncrayn

No Sharon. Not nothing to worry about. Quite the contrary. Worry about the reality not a fictional conspiracy theory. Specifically its not a weaponised man made virus

MarionP profile image
MarionP in reply to WinnieThePoo

I don't believe I saw anywhere that it was weaponized...that's a rhetoric addition by assumers who need to manufacture something that isn't there so as to have something to argue upon. What it is is a pre-weaponized virus. It wasn't developed yet. As a weapon, being easily killed by sunlight and warm, humid air, only killing a rather small subset of the population it infects is pretty pathetic as a weapon. They didn't let it out of the lab on purpose if they were simply sloppy in their level 4 handling...so they took advantage of the opportunity and watched the worldwide activity and response patterns for what good info can be gleaned, which is why they shut off all transportation within Wuhan and that state but neglected to stop international flights leaving China.

Almost all high toxicity class 4 virology labs are either run by the military or funded by the military. Doesn't matter where. These labs are military operations. The virology lab in Wuhan is a class 4. These labs (whether Wuhan or Dietrich) are not in the business of making vaccines to help mankind. Just the opposite. To believe otherwise is extremely naive. They are in the business to do one thing, and one thing only.

For a change we didn't follow the US. One of the first things we did was use the expertise of the health experts, together with a united front from our governments, State and Federal, forming the National Cabinet. All major decisions on the virus are announced by our Prime Minister, on behalf of the National Cabinet, together with our chief Medical Officer.

Our nursing homes are possibly the safest place to be. They were isolated very quickly.

We have only 4 reasons to leave home:

. Shopping for essentials

. Medical services or providing caregiving

. Work or education, if you can't do from home

. Exercise ( with one other person, keeping mandatory distancing)

Some of the finer detail varies from State to State. But, considering we have Conservative and Labour governments, it's been a amazingly united front....first time ever!

The curve has been flattened and we are cautiously optimistic.

Of course, we don't have an election coming up and we don't have a leader who thinks he can dictate when the virus will finish.

DJT is "75%" at fault, eh? It appears any fault at the hands of your CCP/PLA overlords - those who oversee research activities at the WIV labs (epicenter of the Wuhan outbreak and source of the current global pandemic), those who withheld knowledge of the virus' capacity for human-to-human transmission for at least 2 weeks as it continued to spread, those who locked down all domestic travel in and out of Wuhan... while continuing to permit international travel - has yet to penetrate the thick haze of the anti-DJT delirium still clouding the eyes of the Useful Idiot contingent(?).

I tend to agree with pdpatient, it's a no brainer: I too would head home. I'd pack the dog in the one car you got and sleep in Marriot as advised. Why are you referring to Jan Feb sub zero temperatures, this is end of April?

MBAnderson profile image
MBAnderson in reply to Parkie-

I talked about January because I don't want to be in Minnesota for January and February. Now that we have been snowbirds for 5 years, we are spoiled. We normally travel south in November, but I believe we will experience a 2nd wave and traveling back south in November will be more dangerous.

Nicole, I value your advice. What do you think?

MBAnderson profile image
MBAnderson in reply to MBAnderson

PS. Plus, Marriott's don't take dogs.

pdpatient profile image
pdpatient in reply to MBAnderson

MBA, that is incorrect. Residence Inn is family friendly and they have free breakfast, free happy hour, full kitchen and a welcoming dog policy which will cost you $75 extra (not sure by night or stay) and laundry facilities.

Hotels are running on empty. Call the Residence Inn you want and talk to the general manager about possible waiving the pet fee.

MBAnderson profile image
MBAnderson in reply to pdpatient

Thanks again. We stop in Montgomery Alabama (to avoid going thru will Atlanta) and again around Effingham Illinois. I'll look and see if either of those towns have a Residence Inn.

Good idea to ask them to waive the pet fee. They probably will.

Parkie- profile image
Parkie- in reply to MBAnderson

So you are thinking of staying south all summer so you don’t have to drive back down during the probable second wave?

Personnaly, I would get out of Florida ASAP even if it meant sleeping in the car on the way home, and I'd stay home until the risks for Covid19 are no greater in Florida than in Minnesota. I would endure cold winters anytime over any aggravated risk of Covid19. But that's just me and I'm not in your shoes and I can't judge.

MBAnderson profile image
MBAnderson in reply to Parkie-

Makes sense. I think you're right.

MBAnderson profile image
MBAnderson in reply to Parkie-

We'e decided to leave 6/13. Reason being, Florida will have a contagion rate of magnitude higher than Minnesota come the fall and where that's matters is essential services, i.e., more employees in the food distribution chain and utility services will be out of work in Florida than will be in Minnesota.

I actually believe people should plan for an interruption in food delivery and an interruption of electricity.

Parkie- profile image
Parkie- in reply to MBAnderson

Good for you. Are'nt you tempted to leave soon, why do you wish to stay so long?

MBAnderson profile image
MBAnderson in reply to Parkie-

Parkie- profile image
Parkie- in reply to MBAnderson

"Minnesota is a less contagious place to be and there's better healthcare"

I'm thinking it would be a less stressful environment after having the FUS brain surgery (Dr Jeanmonod’s recommendation to avoid any kind of stress within the first six months).

MBAnderson profile image
MBAnderson in reply to Parkie-

You're right. We're out of here. I guess that means I have to steel myself to put up with the Minnesota winter which I haven't done now in 5 years.

That means putting on a heavy coat, boots, hat, gloves, scarves, just take the dog out for a 3 minute pee.

Oh, the hardships I endure.

Parkie- profile image
Parkie- in reply to MBAnderson

I wonder if Minnesota winters are similar to Montreal's.

Anyway, I can’t judge your situation, but cold and snow is less stressful for me than the threath of Covid19 in Fl.

If I ever do get my FUS PTT, stress avoidance will be my first priority for at least one year.

But yeah, getting dressed to go out during winter is a pain in the b.

I have a cabin in northern Minnesota that we escape to from the Texas heat. I would plan to return in October to Florida if you want to winter there.

I have to say even The Military Times have retired generals writing editorials saying the norms of the military are being destroyed by the requirement to only agree with DJT. As the wife of a retired officer it is highly unusual for military officers to publicly state concerns related to preserving the separation of the military and political.

Hmmm... how does one respond to such a stunning display of pure, unadulterated ignorance? You've taken the relatively benign TDS malady plaguing the minds of the more malleable amongst us, and graduated it to a dangerous new pathology on its own.

Following Thursday's WH task force presentation on the effects of UV light, heat, humidity, and disinfectants on the coronavirus, DJT posed a casual, off-the-cuff question (referring to all the above): "Is there a way we can do something like that by injection inside or, or almost a cleaning? Because you see it gets on the lungs and it does a tremendous number, so it will be interesting to check that.” - nothing more, nothing less.

A bit less articulate than usual, yes, but harmless in intent (and certainly nothing to rival Joe B's ongoing blunderfest). Nevertheless mere hours later, the resistance press pounces and is firing up the TDS minions with exaggerated tales of DJT telling people to "drink Chlorox" and "inject disinfectants".

Then, in the next wave of the TDS onslaught, we find the lowliest of the low creatures lumbering onto the scene... eg. the consummate shill 'MBAnderson', in order to amp up the rhetoric. Now it's not only "the president's advice" for people to inject themselves "with alcohol or Lysol or disinfectant" but, in MBA's reptilian mind, it has now become DJT's "policy". Even for the dimmest of the dim, this is pathetic.

PDCon'. Please be responsible and respectful. There's no place here for invective in this forum. We can make the effort to be civil and polite, yes?

PDConscience profile image
PDConscience

“Objective mind”, or Consummate shill? The distinction may rest upon your (and your fellow TDS contingent’s) refusal to take DJT seriously while, at the same time, obsessively taking him literally in order to use every verbal misstep and every behavioral miscalculation as grounds for hyperbolic condemnation.

In order to put to the test your supposed superior “objectivity” (versus the shill’s reflexive condemnation/endorsement of one side over the other), consider first ‘The Spoken Word’. You are cordially invited to reveal (from your collection of “over 16,000 lies” with which you ‘objectively’ credit DJT) your top 2 or 3 candidates to rival the current reigning champion: “If you like your plan, you can keep your plan - PERIOD; If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor - PERIOD.”

Consider next ‘The Deed’. To further cement the sterling calibre of your superior objectivity, you’re invited to share your top 2 or 3 ‘DJT miscalculation’ candidates to rival the current reigning champions: drawing “Red Lines” (i.e., Syria) that are subsequently ignored; dismissing a barbaric terrorist group as “a JV team” while presiding over the spread of its genocidal caliphate throughout the middle east; releasing 5 Taliban leaders from Guantanamo in an exchange for one gutless deserter; negotiating a disastrous nuclear deal riddled with problematic provisions that essentially concede to a fanatical Iran a “legal glide path” to the bomb… while forking over $1.7 billion (inc. $400 million cash on pallets express delivered) for the pleasure.

Your ability/inability to produce a credible reply, of course, defines you hereafter.

PDConscience profile image
PDConscience

Uh huh... I'll just attribute the fact that you're among the last two or three people in the US not yet aware of the fact that DJT was referring to those rallying against the wholesale destruction of historical landmarks when citing "good people on both sides" (not to the inevitable handful of fanatics who gravitate to every mass gathering) - along with your general confusion on virtually every other issue - to the ominous realization that you are, after all, part of sleepy Joe's generation.

PDConscience profile image
PDConscience

You've frequently made clear your fragile sensibilities, CS MBA, but surely you're not suggesting that things like big egos, narcissism, and histories of infidelity are a recent arrival to the political arena?!?

What tipped the scales and secured DJT's auspicious 2016 victory, was the deep-seated corruption and manifest ineptitude of his opponent.

Now... I'm going to try to break this to you as gently as possible, CS, but you'll need to prepare yourself for the inevitable repeat in 2020.
