Webinar for veterans; how to prove a service-connected disability. Hosted by Veterans Law Blog. It's a law firm, so it's not free. $35
I’m SDV/rated, partially due from Camp Lejeune water toxicity. Not an easy application process. This is a great resource!
Even though I have PD- I’m not at 100% (as I am still functioning, I suppose). My family/all of ours will need to know how to navigate the VA, too, eventually.
MB (Marc): Good to have a comprehensive resource; will share this awesome news/ link. Thanks
Amy,
The VA initially rated me as 20% disabled for Parkinson's. ($300/month for PD. Sounds fair to me.) Then, 2 years later, in 2013, I applied for new status. The purpose of your doing that is, for example, just this year I got them to a knowledge errors in their previous rating, recognition of my new status and they paid me retroactive back to 2013.
Almost every Parkinson's symptom/condition is a separate disability.
File for and insist your 100% disabled because of PD. Then, if they don't immediately recognize it, just keep filing and appealing, and writing letters cc your political delegation, i.e., pester them continuously.
I was 50% disabled before I was diagnosed but now I'm officially recognized as being 280% disabled.
Only a government bureaucrat could make something 280%. Ha.
If you get a county advocate or lawyer or just persevere, you will get a 100% rating for PD.
Happy hunting.
