Has anyone heard anymore about this non evasive treatment for tremor and when it is likely to be available.
ultrasound: Has anyone heard anymore about... - Cure Parkinson's
ultrasound
Yes of course. My husband was interviewed for the selection ofpatients for the trials. He was not a candidate at that time because the medication was still effective in controlling his PD symptoms. I presume you are referring to. Focused Ultrasound surgery. If so I would say that it is not noninvasive. It is surgery without the cutting of any part of thebrain. Ultrasound waves are directed towards troublesome areas of the brain that interfer with function. The cells become dead and it is permanent. However I understand that it is a good treatment but irreversible. It may never need to be reversed but if need be it can't be. I understand it is a good treatment for the right candidate. A patient needs to be awake for the procedure to follow instructions during the procedure. It does not cause pain and there is no cutting ; so from that point of view it is noninvasive.
Hope this helps.
To invasive. Just like a pallalotomy with the laser knife. Kills the good and the bad brain cells. I opted for DBS!
