Ho! Ho! Hold on...

I find Xmas hugely challenging. I no longer send cards writing is hopeless these days. Shopping for gifts is reduced to the internet. The ' party ' season doesn't suit my sleep pattern and alcohol isn't fun anymore. I can feel reclusive, insular and avoid gatherings.

Sound familiar?

Well then I decided hang on your trashing your own Xmas, time is precious, stop being Scrooge!

So I make a huge effort focus on what I love and embrace what I have. Loving Xmas turns out to be great.

Don't totally give up on the alcohol. Tradition is important. I suggest two.

yes I do what I can one day at a time. The gift of PD is having to plan one day at a time, with a little time to planning ahead. I used to be proud of being able to do it all Christmas Eve running around to local stores. Then I made IOU's which caused my family great hilarity of the derisive kind. Then I did it all in one day and on Amazon. Some horrors ensued. Now I'm making my list now and returning to the local non-chain store and artisan concept supported by my daughter to keep small businesses going and to keep NYC from turning into a giant chain store mall. Happy holiday season whatever it is!

I still have not sent out Christmas cards. Shopping was mostly on the internet. Christmas tree was a little table top one. I even gave up Christmas Eve at my house. But I did bake shortbread and made a gingerbread house with my grandson.

and. .. it was one of the most relaxing, enjoyable Christmas' I have had in a long time.
