Two years old boy, who had cardiac arrest in November 2008, was left in a vegetative state with severe brain damage. His illness was known as infantile cerebral palsy.
Doctors said he had minimal chance of survival as small as six percent. However, with his parent in thier desperate situation, they researched about alternative therapies. Nine weeks afterwads, on 27th of Januray 2009, doctors prepared his treatment using his cord blood, frozen at birth.
40 months after treatment, he was able to eat independently, walk with assistance and form four-word sentences which is a significant improvement.
In March 2013, in a controlled study of 100 children, Korean doctors reported for the first time that they had successfully treated cerebral palsy with allogeneic cord blood.
