Hi there. I can't really answer that because each person is different with their own complications. All that I can say is that when I was in liver failure I had no problems with swallowing but my appetite was greatly diminished and I just didn't fancy eating much at all but had to force myself to eat to try to keep my strength up. Ensure plus drinks and forty sip drinks are a big help when appetite is low and of course a lot easier for you to swallow than solid food stuff. Wishing you all the best. Alfred

I had a period of swallowing difficulty about 9 months ago, but only lasted about 3 weeks. I've recently began having problems again...we'll see if/when they go away. Nothing has greatly changed so I'm not sure what causes it. If it's bad then I just drink a lot of water while eating. Pills and dry, crumbly foods like bread are the main culprits. But it certainly hasn't affected my appetite. Thankfully I've pretty much had healthy appetite as long I don't let my ascites get way out of hand.
