Chemo can reduce the functionality of liver/kidney which can elevate the blood sugar level..as we know chemo will kill cells in our body...chemo may damaged including those that produce insulin; therefore, if the insulin making cells are damaged, this can lead to having high blood sugar levels.

Steroids, which are often included in the pre meds, can also have this effect.

As far as my knowledge The effects are temporary
