Yes, you can use a wig.

After the first few chemo sessions, for most patients, things stabilize; so do not worry. Stay strong.

It is not at all painful when they give chemotherapy through PORT. In fact, PORT is a better way out, than receiving chemo through veins. And it is for that reason, that I offer a PORT insertion to most of my patients ,along with the first surgery itself. Life becomes very easy and better.

My 2nd chemo was done yesterday, port was not painful ,Sir i was also operated in RGCI,Rohini.then I,m taking my Chemo in Jaipur.will it make any difference.i have consulted several docs here and there..they hav told me different regimes. At Rohini they told me TAC, In Jaipur they told me 3 FEC/ 3 T.Majority of docs hav told me its only institutional difference.but there are no studies comparing the 2 regimes ,Generally Indian population tolerance towards Tac is low.So, I,m taking 3 FEC /3T.My HERCEPTIN report is awaited its not yet cum from mumbai

Both the chemotherapy regimens (TAC x 6 and 3 FEC / T) are almost the same. Don't even bother to find out which one is superior, as both are equally good. It's just a matter of who tolerates what. I can assure you, honestly, there is not even a 0.5% difference between them. So just go ahead with what your oncologist is giving. What matters, is your will and courage. So keep up your positive attitude, be strong; you have your family by your side, we are all with you. Within no time, your chemo will be over and you will be a free bird again!

Let us know what your Herceptin report comes as.

There is a lidocaine based cream that many patients apply to the port area if they find it uncomfortable when the port is accessed. I've been told that it works best if you apply the cream about an hour before your treatment. I don't know what it would be called in India, but your doctor should be able to advise you. Everyone I know who has gotten a port has been glad they did so.

There are some good videos on YouTube about dealing with hair loss during chemo. I especially liked one on how to wear a Buff and how to do eyebrows and other make up. I did not lose my hair when I had treatment for my leukemia (radiation only for my breast cancer) but my eyebrows disappeared and have never recovered. I found the videos to be helpful, and think I need to get a Buff or two for bad hair days.

My sister in law did lose her hair and got a synthetic wig. It looked very natural.. She still uses it sometimes when she's in a hurry, and we are never quite sure if we are looking at her real hair or her wig.

Sending lots of positive thoughts your way. My cousin has just finished chemo and radiation and is doing well. I'm sure you will be reporting the same soon!

Hi Little 12,The first cycle of chemo is difficult as the body is exposed to a battery of drugs for the first time. Then slowly you get adjusted to the side effects. I have finished five cycles and every time the discomforts last for a week. During the third cycle i developed eye infection which wouldn't get resolved and finally my doctors found out that the irritation was due to eyelashes which had fallen inside the eye. Once you know the cause and remedy we can face any problem. Surely U will come out of your problems too.

Wigs are available and using wigs will make you feel good. Go in for natural hair which is lighter and softer than the synthetic ones.

Love to your baby

Hi little 12. The hair will fall. Eyebrows will become very light. The appearance becomes dull. Weakness and fatigue is there.

But all will improve once the chemo and radiation is completed. Take lots of fluids and good diet. Keep positive. Just we have to count down. Now 5 remaining, then 4, then 3 - one day comes we are out of it.

Be positive and take care. Keep sharing

Hi little

Along with other side effects nails become black, some nausea will be there for 3-4 days after chemo. But all will go after chemo. I had all these side effects. Some or other will have less or more but not more than these side effects. But now my radiation is also over. Slowly hair on eyebrows have come. My hair is also started growing though it is very slow. In last week only my radiation is completed and my nails have started becoming light black.

Once chemo and radiation is over every thing will come to normal. I m professional and since the date i had hair loss i m using wig and in the beginning it used to some what uncomfortable but now it is ok

U r also near to win the battle only 4 chemo left. Be brave and strong and trust in god and being positive will help u to over come everything.
