I told my neighbor friend across the street and right away she offered to take me to the doctors appt

My friend took me to my initial appointment at breast clinic, really didn't think it would be serious. When I was told after tests that it looked like cancer I called my husband at work.

I was standing in the grocery store when I got a call from the clinic asking me what surgeon I wanted for my lumpectomy. That's how I found out the Cancer was positive. I had no idea what surgeon, I was in shock - so I called a co-worker who had had a double mastectomy the year before and asked her what to do. That is how she ended up being the first person to know, even before I told my partner or family or friends or anyone. She was very kind, by the way, and gave me very good advice in the moment

I drove to my adult daughter's home and told her first.
