When you were told you had breast cancer, were you given written information about the type of cancer you had?

I was given a form with some boxes ticked and a scribble in a bigger box that told me the grade, size and stage ..... but not what all that meant until a later discussion with my consultant.

In 2007 I was told I had DCIS and taken to a room and given a cup of tea and was sat with a breast care nurse I had no written information given to me. Not until after my masectomy did I gain more information as the hospital had a cancer information centre in it's grounds where the staff were more helpful.

The PA Doctor that told me the exact kind f cancer that I had, when I asked her to please explain that cancer to me, she looked puzzled! I than realised she read it straight off the paper she was looking at and that she didn't have a clue of what to say
